4 Fun Paints to Spice Up Your Child’s Room Decor
Sure you can do decals, bright colors or even a full blown mural (if you are the artsy type) but, for those wishing for a simpler way to enhance their child’s room décor, there are also easy and fun ways to make a child’s room incredibly special straight from a can. Choose a wall, a door, a piece of furniture or draw up a simple shape and cover it in any one of these fun paints to break that room out of the ordinary. If you have ever used any of these, please shared with us your experience. If not, try them out and let us know… Have fun!
Blackboard Paint
No matter how many coloring books and notepads a child has for some reason they are always more inclined to displaying their artistic attributes on the walls, doors or furniture. (My boy’s personal favorite is our bedroom heater…. Not sure why.) So, instead of fighting that instinct, go with it and turn one of those surfaces into a full blown blackboard where they can express themselves to their heart’s content.
Available in the classic black and green or virtually any other color from Rainbow at BlickArt ($9.29, 8.5 oz.) or RustOleum (starting at $13.15 for a quart).
Dry Erase Paint
Maybe you are not a fan of chalk dust or have carpets that would be horribly hit by such constant exposure. You may alternatively wish for a lighter and smoother surface finish. There is the option of dry erase paint that can be drawn on with markers. It is so much fun to have a few markers around and scribble on the “wall” when you know it won’t be a head ache to take it off later on!!! It’s so useful too to make notes and write reminders for your child when they are older to be able to read them…
Available from RustOleum starting at $24.97 for a quart at The Home Depot in white.
Magnetic Paint
If markers and chalk are not the medium you are looking for to have your child express themselves, you may opt for using magnetic paint instead to allow your little artist to display their work by tacking papers on to the surface with fun colorful magnets. This also allows kids to play with the classic magnetic letters, numbers and a whole new slew of fun magnetic shapes now in the market.
Available from Magic Wall Magnetic Paint through Amazon, starting at $24.50.
Glow in the Dark Paint
Now you don’t see it and now you do! Or something along those lines…. Who didn’t love looking at a starred glow-in-the-dark ceiling when they were a child? Well, now it doesn’t have to end with the ceiling. Think up any shape and paint it up with glow in the dark paint for no fuzz décor during the day and lots of bright fun during the night.
Available in various colors from RustOleum and other manufacturers starting at $15.97 through The Home Depot.
